The GlideCycle

This is a pretty sweet concept. Not only that, it really seems to work. The look of happiness on some of these riders faces definitely looks genuine. I can only imagine what it is like to run a mile after being in a wheelchair or walking with a prostheses for ten years. I know it isn't exactly about cycling, but pretty sweet nonetheless.

The vid starts off a bit boring, so fast forward a bit if you want.

Cuauhtemoc, My Poor Pup

This is my happy-go-lucky pup, Temo.

His name, Cuauhtemoc, means "One That Has Descended Like an Eagle." Too bad it doesn't mean "One whose Testicles Have Descended," because the vet had to go into his abdomen to retrieve them. Youch! Here are some pictures of poor Temo sans testicles. :(

Not so happy-go-lucky anymore... then again, it may be the pain pills that he's been on lately.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Watchmen?!

Move over Watchmen Babies, this is too good not to share. YouTuber "HarryPatridge" expresses his love for Watchmen through this Saturday-morning-cartoon style show opening for a fictional Watchmen cartoon. Enjoy.

Lyrics after the jump.

Lyrics:

Strong together, united forever
They're the best of friends

But when troubles about, you'd best watch out
For the Watchmen!

Nite Owl is their leader
And he loves to party down

Rorschach's friends to the animals...

"Yeah, when hes not
clowning around"

"I'm nutty!"

Beat up some thugs, say no to
drugs
Be in bed by 10

But if troubles about, you'd best watch out
For the Watchmen!

Silk Spectres a sensation
You should really
never miss

The Comedian's her biggest fan now...

"If I could
only get that kiss!"

Ozy and Bubastis - a couple o'
Crimesolving
superstars

John can give you cancer
and he'll turn into a car

Strong together, united forever
Come and meet your friends

Have no fear, times up, times here
For the Watchmen!

Here are the Watchmen Babies, in case you missed it.

Vin Diesel: Renaissance Man

I love Thursday's for one reason only... fresh downloads from PSN. Last Thursday (3/19) I downloaded two demos, Wheelman and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, both of which feature Vin Diesel in perfect likeness as the main playable character. This leads to the point of this post. In an effort to make this a more legit blog, I will attempt to write to Vin Diesel and ask him some questions. Any suggestions? Feel free to leave out questions like "Is it true that every year on your birthday you choose one special child to throw in to the sun?" or other fan favorite "facts." Some inspiration after the jump.

The trailer for the new Fast and Furious movie actually looks pretty cool! Unfortunately I dont have permission to embed it here.

Strange Morning.

This morning on the way to work the thickest fog Ive ever seen covered 281. It was so damn eerie I almost called in sick. With no exaggeration, it looked like this:

...except for the Monsters of course. By the way, I would pay top dollar for the painting of Roland Deschain from the beginning of the Mist. Alas it does not exist outside the flick or Drew Struzan's collection.More on how foggy it was after the jump!

I have a lot of bad references for foggy situations. Here is another glimpse into what went through my head when I drove into the blanket of fog:

I thought that for sure, Pyramid Head was gonna show up and drag me away.
All this to say that I'm scared to death of crazy-thick fog. By the way, if you haven't seen The Mist you should check it out... especially if you have an affinity for Stephen King's Dark Tower series as the movie interconnects with Roland's tale.

Behold Cad Bane!

Boba Fett as we know him isn't gonna be around for another couple of years and Pappa Jango is presumably buried somewhere (hopefully with his head) so why not have a little fun with the title of "Best Bounty Hunter?" Enter Cad Bane! This character was supposedly gonna look like Durge, but George Lucas requested he look a little more like Lee Van Cleef from the Man with No Name trilogy. Id say the nailed the look. I cant wait for this Friday's season finale of Clone Wars!

I love that new (and old) characters are being introduced, especially when they appear to be total badasses like Cad Bane. It looks like Aurra Sing will be getting her looong over due shot at some more screentime as well. More after the jump!

You'll recall Sing's all too brief appearance in Episode One: The Phantom Menace, during the pod race sequence. Like with most characters with brief appearances in Star Wars films, Aurra Sing has taken on a life of her own. From her Wookiepedia entry:

"Fear me, Jedi! I am Aurra Sing, Nashtah, scourge of your kind! I haunt your darkest dreams! I drink Jedi blood; I nest in their guts! Your nightmares now have a name, hierophant, and that name is Aurra Sing!"

Star Wars: The Clone Wars airs this Friday on Cartoon Network at 9:00pm (e/p)

What would you say to cancer?

When I first thought of speaking to cancer as if it were a person I thought it might be a bit contrived, or ineffective or something along those lines. After watching this video I realize that it really helps. I can imagine that someone who has truly had a fight with cancer might have already had an internal monologue similar to what these people are saying here. Makes you realize how lucky one can be to get a less aggressive form of cancer. I have to say that I was quite moved by the end of it.

Seeing this personal response kind of makes Lance's comments to that jerk reporter even more poignant.

I Can't Believe... I Can't Believe...

...how much the truth hurts. A Scathing yet insightful look at the Resident Evil series via Wired.com's video game blogger.

Truth be told I was completely unimpressed by the demo for Resident Evil 5. However, regardless of what Mr. Kohler thinks, I have such a soft spot for the first 2 Resident Evil games. Do you guys remember some 10 odd years ago when Mtv had a special sneak peak of upcoming games? I recall holding my breath in anticipation of a mere glimpse of what Resident Evil 2 would look like. Man... that was a good game.

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out?

A small bit of controversy over the cover for the new Fight Night. It was left up to the fans to decide but it ended in a draw. Here is the new cover:

these games are known for having super-chingon graphics (that's a technical term) and for being ultra-realistic. Who do you think would win between Iron Mike Tyson and Mohamed Ali? Highlight reels and game trailers after the jump.

Iron Mike:

Ali:

There isn't any legit footage of the game (at least not in non-teaser mode) so I'm throwin some footage of Fight Night Round 3 and a little ESPN piece for your viewing pleasure:

Truth be told, I wouldn't be surprised if the teaser footage was very close to the actual in game footage. Anyway, here is some 2006's Fight Night Round 3 footage for reference.

When I was in New York for a semester, I played this game (Fight Night Round 3) at the Virgin Records store in Times Square and it was patched through to a jumbo screen out on the street. Its the screen that used to be visible outside the window of the set of TRL. I know... I'm pretty cool.

Interesting Images

I stumbled across a website entitled SlightlyWarped earlier today and I felt compelled to share some of their images. First off we have a very ill conceived Wolverine blow-up toy.

More curiosities after the jump!

This next image is entitled "Napalm Cavern"

Here is the description offered on the website:
Technically, this isn't a cavern but rather an abandoned Russian stronghold that was used to test alternatives to napalm. The tiny stalactites on the ceiling are not the result of natural phenomenon, but are actually caused by the melting of the red bricks under the intense heat of napalm and other weapons of war.

Here's another! This one is called "The Barreleye Fish"

Its accompanying description:
We have known about the barreleye Fish for a while, but only recently have we
gotten any pictures of this strange creature with a transparent head. The two green organs you see inside its head are its eyes while the two orbs that appear where you would think its eyes should be are the equivalent of fish nostrils.

Although very little is known about this fish, scientists believe that it steals its food from the tentacles of jellyfish and so, having its eyes encased inside its clear head protects them from stings.

Neat stuff, huh?
