W.T.F.

The Giz just put this youtube vid up. Not sure if you read that blog Efren, so I am placing it here. I'm a little pissed about what this shows. I would have never suspected it. I don't know if I should be impressed by the actors seeing as how they make it super believable, or by the editors amazing ability to make it unnoticeable. There is only one scene where I immediately thought, that's fake. That's only one out of who knows how many countless examples. Did you know about this?

I rarely visit Gizmodo (and Kotaku for that matter) because my main computer is now my government issue work laptop... as you can imagine it has a lot of blocks on it.

Anyway, this vid is awesome. These guys are effin good. It does kind of kill the illusion for me a bit though.

Yo-ho-ho! It ain't the editors that do this work. It's post-production VFX guys. And also... just think about it. From a production logistics standpoint, can you imagine how much it would COST to shut down a NYC intersection for a day every time you need to shoot a scene on the streets? Waaaaay more economically feasible to do it on a soundstage. Visual effects are cool...

Yeah, I figured it wasn't the editors. Just don't know the lingo. Even post-production vfx guys is pretty vague. They must have a specific name, no?

Hmm... Definitely falls under compositing. That or Motion Graphics. Pretty incredible what they can do, though...
