Tenchu Rebirth!

I am a HUGE fan of the original two Tenchu games on the PlayStation. Tenchu: Stealth Assassins was arguably better than Metal Gear Solid (which came out soon after Tenchu), as far as stealth action games go. Hands down some of the best music in a video game as well. Tenchu: Birth of the Stealth Assassins (Tenchu 2) was an improvement over the first in that it included many more abilities (hiding underwater, re-sheathing your sword and hiding bodies to name a few). Acquire was at the helm for these first two installments, with Activision publishing. The reins were unfortunately passed on to a different company for all installments since... that is until now. Once again the original team (Acquire) is producing a Tenchu game, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins, and its set to land on the Wii on February 6th! Trailer after the jump, my friends.

An interesting bit of trivia: the original creators worked for Sony Music! In a recent EGM article, creators explain that at that time, Sony had a program in which any employee from any deptartment could pitch an idea. These roots may explain how they managed to have some of the most memorable music ever, composed by Noriyuki Asakura. Here are some selections from Tenchu: Stealth Assassins.

"Punish the Evil Merchant"

"Deliver the Secret Mission"

By the way, Asakura is back for this new game!

Man... that first track, "Punishing the Evil Merchant." Funny how music can take you RIGHT back to that moment in time, huh?
